La Bohème is one of the most popular operas. Based on a novel by Henry Murger, Scenes From The Bohemian Life, serialized in 1851, it evokes the poor and hazardous existence of young artists on the fringes of society. It was in Turin in 1896, under the direction of Toscanini, that Puccini met his second great public success after Manon Lescaut, with the adaptation of the French narrative by his librettists Illica and Giacosa. For the opening of the 20/21 season, the Opera Royal de Wallonie-Liège is offering us a new version of La Bohème with the great soprano Angela Gheorguiu in the title role of Mimi.
