Giacomo Puccini’s gripping opera Tosca immerses us in the revolutionary, chaotic and ruthless atmosphere of Victorien Sardou’s famous play of the same name. Nicola Luisotti and Paco Azorín lead this production, conceived as an operatic thriller, with a stellar cast bringing the characters to life, notably Sondra Radvanovsky as Floria Tosca, Joseph Calleja as Mario Cavaradossi and Carlos Álvarez as the fearsome Baron Scarpia.
Drawing a parallel between the tragic love story of Tosca and Cavaradossi and the struggle against the corrupt and autocratic power embodied by Baron Scarpia, the heroine fights for the man she loves to the point of humiliation and murder, symbolically embodying the uncompromising defence of revolutionary ideals.
