"Oh Mozart, immortal Mozart" wrote Schubert in an entry in his diary and we know that the composer fell in love with The Magic Flute when he saw it in Vienna, immersing himself in the music of the Salzburg composer throughout his life and becoming a constant inspiration in his romantic music, but at the same time drinking from the classicism that was being surpassed. Again and again we hear echoes, and even direct quotations of Mozart in Schubert's songs. Despite this, this direct relationship between the two composers, this musical influence has rarely been explored as Sholto Kynoch, pianist and conductor of the Oxford Lieder proposes to us in this program together with Katharina Ruckgaber and Marcus Fransworth, who make their LIFE Victoria debut. Also LIFE New Artist, Mar Compte will participate to perform, along with Kynoch, the opening of The Magic Flute in Zemlinsky's arrangement for four hands. A dialogue between Schubert's songs and arias from Mozart's operas, some of a liederistic simplicity, which will show us the communicating vessels between these two musical geniuses.
