L'elisir d'amore is an opera to savour from the first note to the last. In the romantic-Belcantist mould, Donizetti's opera is a guarantee of enjoyment thanks to its suggestive, pleasant and melodic music. Charm in abundance. This new production at the Teatre Principal has been conceived by the Mallorcan director José Martret, the driving force behind some of the most original theatrical projects in our country, such as the now defunct Madrid venues La Casa de la Portera and La Pensión de las Pulgas. Here he makes his debut in the lyrical field with an original approach: he sets the love story between Nemorino and Adina in a hotel next to a Balearic beach in the 1960s. It is also a knowing nod to the aesthetics of Wes Anderson's Grand Budapest Hotel. For the setting, he has a luxury ally, Lorenzo Caprile, who has designed the costumes.
