The production that marked the reopening of the Teatro Real after the pandemic. Giuseppe Verdi’s moving opera La traviata, conducted by Nicola Luisotti and Leo Castaldi and starring Marina Rebeka and Michael Fabiano, is presented in a staging adapted to the particular context of 2020, whilst retaining all the power of one of the most moving stories of love and sacrifice of all time.
Based on the famous novel The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils, this heart-wrenching opera exposes the prejudices of Parisian high society towards the sincere romance between Violetta Valéry and Alfredo Germont, portraying a courtesan willing to sacrifice her own happiness for the honour of her lover’s family.
