Nijinska: Secreto de la vanguardia
The story of a 20th century woman who was ahead of her time and built the foundations of dance to come. A pioneer of neoclassicism and abstract dance, Bronislava Nijinska made the classical and the contemporary coexist harmoniously and elevated dance to other aesthetic levels. A legacy that this production traces through a prologue, four scenes and an epilogue: The play begins with Nijinska recalling the great dancer, choreographer and theorist she was: her beginnings in the Ballets Russes, the opening of her School of Movement, her work as director of the Teatro Colón ballet, her collaborations with important artists of the 20th century - Picasso, Stranvinsky and Coco Chanel - and her innovative creations.
St. Petersburg, Paris, London, Kiev, Vienna, Monaco, Buenos Aires and Los Angeles are the stages where she performs. A separate scene is her relationship with the Marquis de Cuevas, a Chilean-born magnate and philanthropist, who sets up his own ballet and becomes her benefactor. The difficulties that mark her life are also reflected in this ballet: the flight from the two wars, the Bolshevik Revolution, her brother's schizophrenia, which led to her retirement from the stage, and the death of her son.
